Ever used an eReader for school work before? 

Well, here's your chance, The Ritz library has picked up ten Barnes & Noble Nooks, loaded them with commonly assigned works of literature and is now loaning them out to students. 

These are the latest GlowLight models, ultra light in size and  with the highest text resolution of any eReader out there.

Each Glowlight comes with a selection of classic plays, short stories, poetry, primary sources and novels, many of which  are required reading assignments for  English, History & Speech courses. 

We are adding new books to the Nooks all the time, if you have a suggestion, see us at the Reference Desk, call 431-8634, or send email.

A  GlowLight can be taken out for two weeks at a time. Sorry! No renewals.

GPO - US Government Printing Office : Keeping America Informed

As defined on their website, "The U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) is the Federal Government’s official, digital, secure resource for producing, procuring, cataloging, indexing, authenticating, disseminating, and preserving the official information products of the U.S. Government." As part of this initiative, there are a number of e-book titles that are available for download in 3 different formats: pdf, epub and mobi. To access the current electronic books supplied by the GPO, click here. To actually read the book, click on the URL on the right hand side and select the format that you want to access.

Project Gutenberg offers approximately 36,000 titles that are in the public domain as electronic downloads to your computer or other device. If you enjoy reading and are looking for a title, check out their selections.  Click here for the link to their mobile site.

Another site that offers free eBooks for various readers is Manybooks which also offers public domain titles for download.

Over 600 U.S., British and world authors are represented, and there's even a special section on short stories. Includes Twane's Masterworks, collections of essays on such works as Catcher in the Rye, Cry the Beloved Country & A Doll's House.
