New mobile app for ebrary

The Ritz's largest electronic book collection, ebrary, is in the process of enhancing mobile access to their over 100,000 titles. Part of that enhancement is the retirement of the current ebrary app, which is scheduled to occur of August 4.

If you have that app, or just want to access ebrary from your mobile device, it's time to change over to BlueFire app, the ebook reader that ebrary will be using from now on. As with the ebrary app, BlueFire allows you to download an entire book to read when Internet access is unavailable.  Instructions on the entire process of using mobile devices and ebrary is here

More information on accessing the Ritz's resources from mobile devices is posted on the Mobile Access Ritz Research Guide.

Use your phone to help write a research paper!!

It's not unusual for people to use their cameras to snap photos of pages in a book or journal for research purposes, but now there's a new smartphone app that turns your phone's camera into a citation generator.

With Quick Cite you use the camera on your smartphone to scan the bar code on a book. The service then e-mails you a citation for the book in one of four styles, including APA and MLA, that you can then paste into your paper. This app is available for both Android and Apple products.
